Why did you decide to take part in this project? What is your interest within the engagement with the „reading format“?
The interaction between Text and Image is a central theme in my work. Regarding this crossover I have until now mainly worked with the media of book and film. The possibility of a live interaction presents a thrilling challenge for me.
Doro Billard studied graphic art and drawing at the École Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and at the Art Academy Weissensee in Berlin, where she lives and works since 1999. In 2004, she, together with the architect Clemens Helmke, founded the artist group Monobloque that was awarded with several European project and Artist-in-Residence scholarships. At the heart of her graphic work are the boundaries of memory and perception of everyday situations.
