Why did you decide to take part in this project? What is your interest within the engagement with the „reading format“?

I am interested in transforming an idea that comes from outside the dance sphere into movement and dance. I enjoy the challenge from transdisciplinary arts into how to find the common ground and to express it in a way that will enhance both.I want to transform the beauty of poetry into movement, or to give life to a story using the human body. I wonder how I can give life through movement, to other people experiences and how I can embody their story, their experience. What kind of polarity can we develop throughout the creative process and how two different structures can come together creating a third one, a much more complete one.

Momo Sanno is a dancer and choreographer based in Berlin and Bukarest. After finalizing his classical education by graduating from esteemed academies as for example the “Floria Capsali School of Choreography” in Bukarest and the “John Cranko Dance Academy” in Stuttgart, Sanno discovered his passion for contemporary dance, which until today remains the main drive for his artistic work. Aside from stays in Brazil, Jamaica and Haiti, his career already involved also a collaboration with the Garth Fagan Dance Company in Rochester, NY.

In 2009, Momo Sanno utilized his experience gathered all over the globe in the conception of his first choreography “Travelling Body”, which he followed up with “…Minutes, Seconds” in 2010. The latter was produced for NDTC in Jamaica.

Since his return to Romania in 2012, Sanno has been involved in a number of projects, such as the choreographies “Two.One.1” and “Forgotten Rhythms”. Additionally, he works as a movement director and dancer in various productions and co-operations, collaborating with artists from all over Europe.
